The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We currently have three vacancies for a Food & Beverage Assistant. The positions are working 5 out of any 7 days per week on a permanent contract and vary in hours and contract type, so we ask that you note your preference (or state if you are happy to be considered for all) in the supporting statement on your application. The positions available are below:
 
25 hours per week – 52 week per year 

36.5 hours per week – 42 weeks per year* 

36.5 hours per week – 52 weeks per year 

*For the 42 week role the suggested (but not guaranteed) non-working period is 4 weeks at Christmas and early January, 2 weeks at Easter and 4 weeks from the first Monday in August.

The roles are at our campus, covering lunchtime service during the week, although evening and weekend work is occasionally required through term time and will be required throughout summer. As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will be required to ensure that the day to day running of the catering operation is smooth and that customers are provided with a high standard of service at all times. Your responsibilities will include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, working on the tills, stocking food stations and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas. The successful candidate will have experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service in a customer focussed environment. Previous experience of working in the Hospitality industry would be an advantage. You should be a good team worker and be able to be calm and professional in high pressure situations, as it can be extremely busy during peak times.

The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We have a vacancy for general Porter in in the hospitality department. This role will be supporting the food outlets in the west of campus. As a Kitchen Porter you will be responsible for delivering and receiving stock, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, operating dishwashers and carrying out daily cleaning of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery as well as setting up tables and furniture.

The successful candidate should work well within a team and have experience of working in a kitchen porter/general porter role and providing an excellent standard of customer service.

During term time the role is mainly Mon-Fri with occasional weekend requirements. During the summer there is an increased requirement for weekend and late evening shifts to be covered on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week). The weekly shift pattern consists of straight shifts only, no split shifts.

Training and uniform are provided, and there are opportunities to develop in the role and seek promotion into supervisory roles.

We have a vacancy for a Hospitality Supervisor. As Hospitality Supervisor you will supervise and work as part of a team to ensure that the customer experience is optimised and high standards are maintained. Duties include: training team members, rota management, adhering to financial regulations and health and safety/food hygiene standards, opening and closing shifts, setting up and providing a first class service for catering events and functions. 

The role will be supported by junior staff who you will supervise and guide as well as by on-site managers who will promote your own personal development and growth. Full role details are included in the job description.

The successful candidate will have experience of supervising and excellent standards of customer service in a customer focused environment. You will have experience in providing team members with operational training. You will have knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, licensing laws and work well as part of a team.
